BETRAYED

He dropped to his knees.
The other knights were supposed to ride into battle…
But on the brow of the hill he saw them turn away.
He had been BETRAYED.
It tasted awful. The taste of betrayal was a sensation he wouldn’t wish upon his worst enemy, but he didn’t have time to think about that. He had to get up from the mud his heavy armour had sunk into and fight for his life. He had to survive because he needed redemption. If he made it from this battlefield alive he would pierce the men who had deserted him and his small band of brothers in their time of need. He would drive his sword into the hearts of every one of them, just like they had done to him through their betrayal. Each man who had turned his horse in defiance on the brow of the hill that day had broken the agreement, and for that, there could be no forgiveness.
