DROWNING

He walked down to the water…
And stared into the abyss.
The mist of the ocean felt cooling, refreshing, but internally he was far from refreshed; he was a wreck. Nothing felt good within. Even the enlivening sensation of standing on a beach, toes in the sand, breeze in the hair, feet in the wash of the salty water was short-lived. He would have given anything to feel something positive for a moment longer than a moment…
But he was as numb as could be.
He was ready to call it a day. He was ready to wade into the winter waves of the ocean, waves that no man would survive if he was foolish enough to enter…
