JUST A SNIFF

He was lying on his bed…
Wallowing in a victim mentality.
It weighed on him like wet clothes in the rain. It was a stubborn stain on his soul that he couldn’t get out, no matter what he tried. He was tired of it, in all honesty, but the motivation to overcome its heaviness evaded him.
Today, LIFE was looking no different. As he lay on his bed, half naked, ashamed of the reality he had created, he knew what he needed to do. He knew that he needed to start somewhere, anywhere positive, but when you have been living with a victim mentality for as long as he had, it was hard not to see his predicament as somebody else’s problem.
In his head, the fact he wasn’t thriving was because he was never given the opportunity; if only his parents had been richer, his teachers had been smarter, his coaches had been wiser, perhaps he would have been an entrepreneur, lawyer or professional athlete by now. The fact that he was down and out at twenty-four, staring at the messy floor of his parent’s basement where he lived miserably, was because he lacked the opportunity others were given.
