REGRET NOTHING

The first man opened his eyes to the world…
As he had every morning for the past sixty years.
At this point in his life, his fears had dissipated and there was nothing but courage left in his heart. He had fought battles that most men never dare to fight, which is why he had no regret.
He got up, walked down the stairs of his modest but tranquil beach house and stepped out onto the grass of his back garden, which overlooked the waves of the untamed ocean. He breathed in the salty mist of the sea air whilst grounding his feet on the earth, and gave thanks for his life, his love and his honour. As he curled his toes into the healing ions of the fertile soil, he knew he would not see another year; his heartbeat was fading quickly. His eyes still had the light of a playful child…
But his wild days and nights had finally caught up with him.
