RIDE OR DIE

The boy stood at the top of the hill…
With the wheel of his bike at the tip of its descent.
He felt the breeze flowing through his dishevelled hair. He was scared, but he didn’t want the girl who was watching to see. She was the only reason he was about to go through with this. She was the only reason he was about to ride his bike down the biggest hill in the city!
The boy squeezed his sweaty hands around the handlebar grips, firmly. His fingertips turned white he was holding on so tightly. He really didn’t want to go through with this, because of the fear, but if he didn’t do it now he would regret it forever. Every kid in the neighbourhood had ridden down this hill by thirteen years of age…
And he wasn’t going to break that tradition.
