COMMUNITY SPIRIT

I tossed and I turned.

A fever burned through my body.

Contrary to what people think this is a good thing, although it isn’t pleasant. When a fever is present the immune system has engaged to kill infection so it shouldn’t be suppressed.

The heat within my cells was making it difficult to rest though so I went to the bathroom to cool a flannel under some cold water and held it to my forehead. I got back into bed and let the fever do its thing.

The next morning I woke up in a pool of sweat. My sheets were soaking wet but this was positive because it meant the heat had released from my body and I had broken the fever.
