IMPERFECTION

The year was 2053.

Grigoris lived in the rolling hills of what was once Ancient Greece.

He found great peace in what was left of the countryside. He resided far enough away from the modern cities that had become hostile to human purity. What it once was to be human had been replaced by a reliance upon technology and artificial intelligence.

The evidence for this shocked Grigoris one Tuesday afternoon. He had been mowing his land when his trusty tractor broke down on him. For ten years he had no problem with this mower but now he had no choice but to go into the city to buy a new part.

He departed in his truck that wasn’t allowed to enter the city because it ran on fuel. He had to park his diesel truck outside the perimeter and jump on one of the electric trams that brought outsiders in. That was only once he had cleared the border control and disinfecting stations that tested and cleaned outsiders before they entered the city.
