MIND OVER MATTER

Master Bodhi had me peeling satsumaimo again.
Satsumaimo is what we call sweet potato in Japan.
I used to love them until I moved at this point in my life to the monastery. After many years of hard practice in martial artistry I needed to slow down. I needed a change of season.
For this reason I enrolled as a Buddhist monk at the monastery as I say, but all Master Bodhi had me doing all day was peeling sweet potato! I know it is to feed the monks after they have finished their spiritual practices but I thought I would be practicing spirituality too. So far all I had been asked to do was peel satsumaimo and I had been there for a year.
It wasn’t clear as to why this was the path chosen for me. I knew there would be rationality behind it but I did not know the answer. It would be up to my master to reveal the lesson when he was ready.
